All he was doing is trying to get a dog for his kids.
Scott Bowman, of Jacksonville, Florida was shot and killed inside his home in front of his children, while trying to get a dog from a man who said he was giving one away in a Facebook ad.
Chelsea Bowman said when the man brought the dog to the house, even though they offered to pick the dog up. Once he came inside, he overstayed his welcome.
She says when they dropped hints for the man to leave and that when things turned violent, and Bowman was shot and killed during a fight for a gun.
The couple’s kids ran across the street for help.
“They were just terrified and just kept repeating, ‘My dad, there’s blood everywhere,’” neighbor Julie Wood said.
There has been no arrest made in the case, and that has angered Chelsea Bowman. Chelsea Bowman was Scott Bowman’s ex-wife, but she says they had made plans to remarry.
“I’ve lost everything,” Chelsea Bowman said Monday. “I want to know why this guy is not behind bars. Why he’s still allowed on the streets.”
Action News Jax reached out to the Jacksonville police to find out if an arrest has been made, and if not, why. They said the investigation is active and ongoing.
The man has not yet been identified.
You can’t invite strangers to your home where your family is and people shouldn’t go to their house.
If your interested in buying or selling something, meet them in a crowded, public place.
Hindsight, I know Chelsea Bowman wishes they hadn’t invited him in.
Our prayers go out to this family who lost their husband and father.
