Many of us were already well aware of this, but it’s gonna be a complete culture shock to some, but here it is….”Welfare Use and Fraud does not only exist among minorities.”

Oh no! Shocker.

Authorities arrested three more Lakewood couples Tuesday night in a continued effort to crack down on residents suspected of defrauding government-assistance programs, officials announced Wednesday morning.

Tuesday’s raids were on Brisk Lane (left), Leigh Drive (center) and Twin Oaks Drive.

The raids, conducted just before midnight, come on the heels of a massive bust on Monday morning that led to the arrests of eight Lakewood residents — four married couples who allegedly bilked the government out of $1.3 million in illegal benefits.

The latest residents arrested in the raids are accused of obtaining at least $500,000 in illegal benefits from programs such as Medicaid, SNAP food assistance, HUD and Social Security, according to law enforcement sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the raids.

Shimi and Yocheved Nussbaum were arrested Monday in connection with a public-assistance fraud scheme. Their arrest was part of a larger operation, led by federal and state authorities, that netted the arrests of six others. Peter Ackerman

Arrested on Tuesday night were Yitzchok, 33, and Sora, 39, Kanarek of Brisk Lane; Chaim, 40, and Liatt, 39, Ehrman, of Twin Oaks Drive; and William, 45, and Faigy, 40, Friedman, of Leigh Drive, according to a joint statement from Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato and State Comptroller Philip James Degnan.

The Kanareks wrongfully collected $339,002.56 in Medicaid, nutrition assistance, Social Security and federal housing funds, according to the prosecutor’s office. The Ehrmans brought in $185,692.22 in improper Medicaid, nutrition assistance, utilities assistance and Sandy relief funds and the Friedmans bilked $149,842.28 in Medicaid, food, energy and housing funds, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Yitzchok Kanarek is the former rabbi of Oros Yisroel, a school for special-needs students that closed in 2015 due to federal and state tax liens of more than $295,000, according to public records.

Faigy Friedman is listed as the registered agent of a company called Pay-Per Payroll Services LLC, public records show. A brochure for the company lists her home address as the address of the business, which offers payroll services to small businesses.

Chaim Ehrman is listed as the registered agent of three businesses, according to public records. They are Buy it By Cases, The Jewelers List and True Hue, a cosmetics company.

All six defendants were charged with theft by deception, a second-degree offense, and are scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Ocean County Wednesday afternoon.

On Monday, a prominent rabbi, Zalmen Sorotzkin, who runs the synagogue Congregation Lutzk and businesses linked to the synagogue, was arrested. The others arrested Monday included, Sorotzkin’s wife, Tzipporah; his brother and sister-in-law Mordechai and Rachel Sorotzkin; Mordechai and Jocheved Breskin; and Shimon and Yocheved Nussbaum. Mordechai and Rachel Sorotzkin and the Nussbaums face federal charges in U.S. District Court.

Nearly 15 people have been arrested in raids over two days in a New Jersey community in connection with an ongoing investigation that has so far exposed about $2 million in alleged public-assistance fraud in the town.

Well, well, well….
