“The ground is sour.”

At least they’re trying to make it sour again, with the remake of “Pet Sematary.”

“Mama and IT” director Andy Muschietti and sibling producer Barbara are working on this Stephen King masterpiece for their next film project.

Say what?

Pet Sematary

Andy Muschietti has reportedly opened up to the Toronto Sun about hopefully getting to remake the 1989 cult classic.

“We’re huge fans of Pet Sematary. If we can get our hands on that and do the Pet Sematary we want to do, that will be something. One day, maybe.”

As we learned last summer, the project is finally getting off the ground, with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) on board to direct a script he wrote with Jeff Buhler.

The film promises to be ten times more scary than the original.

The Muschietti siblings currently own the rights to King’s sci-fi horror short The Jaunt. The Jaunt may have to wait a little longer to make way for the path to Pet Sematary.
